5 reasons to book a ‘work-staycation’

Both people and businesses are convinced that post-pandemic work patterns will remain changed long into the future. Nearly 2 in every 5 people say they will never return to the office, and 60% would prefer to work remotely always or some of the time if they could choose, that is according to a recent YOUGOV poll.

What is a work staycation?

Whilst many are happy to have more flexible work patterns, it remains more important than ever to maintain a healthy work-life balance, especially with increasingly hectic schedules and stress from the never-ending workday.

The birth of the “Work-Staycation” may just be the perfect solution. What is this you ask? It simply means to book accommodation somewhere other than your home for a few days or weeks to refresh the scenery.

With calm surroundings, good WiFi connection and a makeshift desk you can ensure you are still ready for your morning meetings, all in your new office away from home!

If you aren’t yet quite convinced, read on for 5 reasons why you should book a Work-Staycation with Byron Woolacombe Holidays this year!

1. save your holiday allowance

Whilst an obvious statement, it is an important one! Save your holiday for a trip where you need to completely switch off with friends and family.

The Work-Staycation allows you to stay on top of things and get your work done, all while doing something you enjoy and taking some time to explore new places. All of our apartments have fully equipped kitchens with open living spaces providing you with a comfortable space for you to work and relax either on your own or with family.  Many come with large balconies to enjoy the fantastic Woolacombe views.

2. a Change of Scenery

Woolacombe beach has all you need for a happy holiday. It’s less than a four-minute walk away from Byron Woolacombe Holidays, which is nestled between rugged unspoilt Baggy Point and Mortehoe, and framed by the hills of Woolacombe Downs in the stunning region of North Devon.

When you fancy a change, the Byron apartments are in easy reach of three more amazing beaches, Putsborough, Barricane and Coombesgate Beach (which can be reached from Barricane when the tide is out).

Discover some of the great National Trust walks around Woolacombe, Mortehoe and Ilfracombe. Enjoy beautiful views and exciting hikes over craggy cliff-tops and meandering country fields. And if you want to bring your four-legged work buddy to Woolacombe, there are some stunning dog walks in North Devon that you can enjoy together while staying in our dog-friendly accommodation.

3. explore new eateries

Make the most of the morning to get up and outside before you start work. Take a stroll into the village and have a delicious coffee from the independent cafém Meraki, then take a 20-minute stroll along the coastal path from Woolacombe to Coombesgate and back. We bet you’ll feel much more revitalised and ready for the day. The peace and quiet of the early morning can make you feel right at home, and lets you experience hushed morning activities that other sleepyheads miss. Getting up a little earlier to create your own special morning calm will get you through the day – whatever it throws at you.

Take a lunch break and revitalise in our indoor heated pool and sauna, or even work up a sweat in the gym if you prefer.

As soon as it is time to shut the laptop, treat your evenings like a mini weekend and leave someone else to the cooking. Relinquish traditional North Devon food ideas of soggy chips and overpriced pasties coveted by nearby local seagulls, North Devon’s food scene is an exciting place to be! Fast becoming a foodie destination renowned for its choice of Michelin star establishments with a high standard restaurant culture that would delight even the hardest to please food connoisseurs amongst usOur expert team at Byron Woolacombe Holidays’ have provided their unique guide on where to visit, all to be enjoyed whilst staying in your luxury self-catering apartment in Woolacombe!

Barricane, or Shell Beach as it is known locally, has a small beach café serving homemade Sri-Lankan curries. People take rugs and cushions, chilled beer or wine and enjoy watching the sunset. It’s very popular, so get there early and take a bottle!

4. physical and mental health benefits

The British seaside will likely mean something different to each of us. Fish and chips, buckets and spades, maybe wetsuits and waves, however, the benefits of time at the coast are universal to all – with research indicating lower stress levels, increased immunity and a desire to live healthier lifestyles.

Research shows that waking up to the sound of waves can help us feel calmer, allowing us to learn to engage with our surroundings and help replenish our depleting energy stocks, which we continue to use to the full in modern life.

Our ocean view penthouses and apartments provide prime positioning to wake up and listen to the sound of the waves, all before your morning coffee has brewed for your online meeting.

5. Renewed motivation at work

When everything in our work and personal life is in harmony, you’ll feel more motivated not only at work but you’ll find yourself more able to enjoy your time off too. It can help boost your creativity and with renewed motivation and less stress you can foster greater creativity to achieve your work goals. A win-win for you and your employer.

Remember – We all need rest, to switch off, and to get away from work completely. You’ll still need time for that, even with your work-staycations.

Make your working life more exciting and book a Work-Staycation at Byron today!

Stays available from a minimum of 3 nights.
