accessibility at byron

We welcome all our Guests at Byron and strive to make information on the accessibility of our apartments and facilities available to all. Byron Woolacombe Holidays is committed to the creation and support of a balanced and diverse holiday experience.

Byron Woolacombe Holiday’s philosophy of inclusion and sustainability does not extend solely to guests with disabilities, but also includes older people, families with small children, carers, friends and relatives who accompany guests with particular requirements. We also respect the rights of individual guests to enjoy their holiday experience independently wherever possible.

The below offers to help with questions regarding accessibility, however, for further details regarding accessibility of our apartments and facilities, please contact our team directly before booking to ensure we can answer all of your questions and give best recommendations on the apartments.

THE APARTMENTS

At present Byron has no apartments which are fully dedicated or adapted for disabled requirements.

The only apartments at Byron which can be reached without lift or stair access from the car park are 15 and 17 Woolacombe.

4 – 12 Woolacombe require step access from the car park to the front door. These are duplex apartments and have stairs inside. 16-20 Woolacombe can be accessed via a lift, they have no stairs inside.

1 – 3 Woolacombe West and 1 – 5 Rockham require step access from the car park to the front door. They can be accessed via a lift, they have no stairs inside.

We are able to offer apartments in the Challacombe, Middlecombe and Putsborough block which are on the ground floor of their respective block, however, these are only accessible by lifts from the underground car park. These apartments have no stairs within the apartments but do require mobility within the apartment and from the lift for access.

We do not recommend guests with mobility issues staying on apartments above the ground floor in the case of the unlikely event of issue with a specific lift in the apartment building or in the risk of fire.

Please note children must be supervised at all times when using the lift. The use of lifts cannot be guaranteed due to mechanical failures which can occur. Please note, no compensation will be offered in the event of the failure of any lift during your stay.

Many of our beds are ‘zip and link’.

We do not have fully adapted bathrooms but the en-suite bathrooms have
showers which have a small step up to the shower tray. Most family bathrooms have a bath with a shower over the top

THE car park

By car you can only access the car park via Sandy Lane.

There are external steps to the car park from Beach Road by the side of the swimming pool. There are internal steps from the car park down to the Leisure Suite Facilities.

There is no internal step access from the Car Park to the blocks other than the Woolacombe East Block.

There are no designated disabled parking bays available.

Parking bays are allocated to each individual apartment so cannot be swapped or changed at request.

THE LEISURE FACILITIES

You can access the help desk, games room and leisure facilities from the front of the property, via a ramp from the pavement. You can also use a lift which gains access to the car park and various apartment lifts listed above.

There are steps required to get into the pool and the gym.

Disabled toilets with changing facilities in are located in the main reception.

The pool has one access point via a ladder, one tiled easy step in access. There is no lifeguard on duty, guests swim at their own risk.

Note children must be supervised at all times whilst using the onsite facilities.

There is CCTV.
