Wild Frontier Charters

Wild Frontier Charters is one of North Devon’s most highly regarded sport fishing and wildlife charter operators, running trips out of Ilfracombe into some of the most productive and spectacular waters of the Bristol Channel. With a modern, well-equipped boat and a skipper whose knowledge of the local ground is second to none, Wild Frontier offers a genuinely premium day on the water for anyone who takes their sea fishing seriously.

The charter specialises in wreck and reef fishing, targeting the species that inhabit the rich, rocky ground off the North Devon coast. Conger eel, ling, pollack and various species of shark are regular you to the nets here, along with the more familiar bass, bream and ray that are available year-round. The skipper works hard to find the fish and is not content to simply anchor in the same spots time after time. Instead, he uses a combination of local knowledge, sonar technology and constant awareness of current conditions to maximise everyone’s chances of a memorable catch.

Wildlife trips are also offered and are a genuine highlight of the programme. The Bristol Channel is one of the best places in the UK to encounter large marine mammals, and a day out with Wild Frontier can yield sightings of minke whales, common and bottlenose dolphins, basking sharks and grey seals, as well as a spectacular array of seabirds including gannets, guillemots and puffins during the breeding season.

The boat is licensed to take a maximum of twelve passengers, and a full charter gives your group exclusive use of the vessel for the day. Half-day and shared options are also available for smaller groups or individuals who want to join an existing trip.

Wild Frontier Charters offers an outstanding combination of serious sport fishing and first-class wildlife watching on one of the most dramatic stretches of coast in the British Isles.
