The Dinki Deli

The Dinki Deli opened its doors in the spring of 2024 and has quickly established itself as one of the most enthusiastically local food businesses on the North Devon coast. With 95 per cent of its products sourced from within 25 miles, this is a deli that takes the idea of eating local seriously, and the quality of what it stocks reflects that commitment at every turn.

The drinks menu alone is worth the visit: exceptional specialty coffee, Exmoor teas, Venezuelan hot chocolate and freshly squeezed orange juice sit alongside Luscombe cold drinks and organic dairy farm milk and milkshakes. It is the kind of drinks menu that a serious coffee shop spends years building, and the fact that it comes packaged in a small, characterful deli says a great deal about the ambition of the place.

The food is equally impressive. Croissants, quiches, sausage rolls, scotch eggs and hot pressed toasties are freshly made alongside indulgent brownies and a range of sweet and savoury snacks that represent local Devon producers brilliantly. Vegan and gluten-free options are well catered for, and the team are knowledgeable and enthusiastic about every product on the shelf.

If you are visiting the North Devon coast and want to put together a brilliant picnic, stock your kitchen with local produce or simply find somewhere exceptional to grab a coffee and a pastry, the Dinki Deli is exactly where you want to be.

Regulars will tell you that the deli’s lunch menu, while short, is exceptional. The specials board changes daily and is always worth reading carefully. Whether you come for a quick takeaway or settle in at one of the tables for a longer sit, The Dinki Deli gives you a quality of food and sourcing that few places of its size can match. A genuine North Devon gem.

The passion for the local food economy that runs through everything here is infectious, and spending even a short amount of time browsing the shelves is likely to result in rather more in your basket than you originally planned. In the best possible way.
